I found out yesterday that my husband’s Social Security will increase by $22 as of January 1, 2015. That puts us $20 over the income limit so I will be off of Badger Care as of the first of the year with no appeals recourse. I went to the federal exchange and discovered that I cannot afford the insurance offered there. The silver plan that would cover my ongoing care and medicines as Badger Care did would cost us our entire monthly income of $1350 (premiums + increased copays & deductible). We are, however, eligible for $60 a month in Food Share. I am forced to pay the penalty, try to cover my medicines out of pocket the best we can and hope that my health doesn’t deteriorate further. Please, Governor Walker, I don’t want to die just because I can’t find a job.

We have an opportunity to provide health care for Wisconsin citizens that currently are not covered due to finances. It us criminal to not take federal money available. This is a political decision so Governor Walker appears to be a viable Republican candidate.

Anyone kicked off Badgercare won’t get quality insurance in the Marketplace. Way too many out-of-pocket costs. Then people will be headed to emergency rooms and premiums for the rest of us will continually rise.

I personally know people who need this help. In my opinion, it is a crime to provide tax breaks for the richest of our state’s citizens and then turn our backs on those least able to provide for their families. Not all people are looking for a handout. Sometimes you just need help.

Those are your federal tax dollars coming back to help those in your own community. Where would you rather have this money go?

I believe that access to medical care is a human right, not just a privilege available only to those who can afford it. If Wisconsin does not accept the federal funds for BadgerCare, many of our citizens will get sick and die for lack of money to see a doctor.

It costs people more to pay for expensive ER visits, and saves money by providing preventative care to people. We also have a moral obligation to take care of other people. The psychosocial aspect of society has changed as a result of media which encourage the Ayn Rand mentality of selfishness. Society will not provide for the needy unless it is written into our government.

Not only would accepting the funds help thousands more Wisconsin citizens get healthcare, it would be bringing tax dollars Wisconsin workers paid in federal taxes back to our state instead of those dollars going to other states. The more our governor refuses federal monies, the more Wisconsin helps other states do better economically.

The money comes from federal tax dollars which were contributed by the citizens of this state and people need health care coverage. Why is this even a question?

It is ridiculous to force low income families to pay anything extra to sway a political argument in a certain direction. The new affordable care act will work best if everyone is cooperating by using it as it was designed.

For working people who simply do not make enough money to afford health insurance, Badgercare is the only, albeit a good, option. Why attack the working poor? Look at the numbers— and don’t let this divide us any further.

Because it its the right thing to do think about the children and older people that won’t be able to go to the doctor AND think about the money saved with people going to the emergency room instead
