Waukesha area residents and organizations call on the Legislature to stop blocking thousands from BadgerCare, consider the human cost and to accept billions in federal Medicaid funds.
This evening at 6:15 PM, Waukesha area residents and a coalition of organizations will hold a candlelight vigil in honor of the thousands of Wisconsin residents whose access to BadgerCare will either be taken from them, or denied for months.
While the rest of the country seeks ways to cover as many citizens as possible, the Wisconsin Legislature is currently debating Gov. Walker’s plan to cut tens of thousands from BadgerCare while delaying access to tens of thousands more promised coverage on January 1st.
Waukesha residents will hold this vigil to pray for those whose health care is in peril, and remind the state that this immoral decision does not have to be made. Accepting billions in federal funds for BadgerCare would ensure every Wisconsin resident have immediate access to affordable healthcare January 1st.
