On Wednesday, March 4, 2015, the U.S. Supreme Court heard a case that could take away affordable health care for millions of Americans - including over 183,000 Wisconsinites. And the Walker Administration could fix it immediately. Add your name to our following letter to the Walker Administration:
Dear Governor Walker
Right now, the Supreme Court is considering the future of the Affordable Care Act's tax credits in states like Wisconsin that use the federal health Marketplace, Healthcare.gov.
We urge you to take immediate action to prevent an estimated 183,000+ Wisconsin residents from losing their affordable insurance.
At stake are the current life saving treatment of thousands, interrupting chemotherapy for breast cancer patients, stopping dialysis for those with kidney disease and more. You can avoid this human made disaster by simply adopting a Wisconsin-based health marketplace such as exists in states like Minnesota.
State-based marketplaces are protected from any negative Supreme Court ruling, and would ensure those 183,000+ Wisconsin residents continuing receiving affordable coverage.
As your Administration has pushed thousands into the federal marketplace by removing their option of BadgerCare, we believe it is an overwhelming moral obligation that you do all in your power to mitigate the possible ruling of the Supreme Court.
If tens of thousands of Wisconsinites are forced from their coverage, responsibility falls on not just the Supreme Court but the Walker Administration as well.
You will spark a political firestorm if you do not act, because 183,000 + people will not take having their health care yanked away from them lying down. You have it in your power to prevent this disaster.
