Green Bay Media Event Today at 9:30am Responding to Walker Administration's Twisting of Health Rates

Citizens concerned by attempt to mislead public on health insurance costs will respond before Insurance Commissioner Town Hall

At a media event today at 9:30 AM, Citizen Action of Wisconsin and community members will discuss the attempt by Walker’s Commissioner of Insurance to mislead the public by twisting the rates for the new health marketplace. The information about rates on the individual market was released in a press release from the Wisconsin Office of the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI), and is so vague that its sole role must be to create confusion on the Affordable Care Act.
Even if the data is taken at face value, it is clear that OCI leaves out vital factors which will have a major impact on the true sticker price of health insurance. Citizens distressed by this blatant attempt to confuse the public will counter the charges at a press conference outside of a town hall meeting held by the Commissioner of Insurance (OCI) at Northeastern Technical College.
