NEW non-partisan state data shows thousands living in La Crosse County could be covered by BadgerCare if the state accepted federal Medicaid money
Citizen Action of Wisconsin, State Representative Steve Doyle, State Representative Melissa Sargent and members of the La Crosse County Board will hold a media event tomorrow at 1:45pm calling for accepting enhanced federal funds for BadgerCare. At the event, they will discuss newly released state estimates of the additional people that would be eligible for BadgerCare in La Crosse County if Wisconsin accepted federal Medicaid funds.
Millions of dollars could enter La Crosse County over the next few years and cover thousands of residents who are in need of access to quality affordable healthcare. State Representative Melissa Sargent has introduced legislation allowing counties to accept the federal Medicaid funds at the local level if the Governor and Legislature continues to reject them. The La Crosse County board passed a resolution requesting for the ability to make this decision.
The media event will reveal the human toll of failing to accept the funds, and the opportunity for La Crosse County if these funds were accepted.
