Latest Marquette Poll Shows Strong and Consistent Supermajority Support Accepting Federal Funds for BadgerCare

For Immediate Release--October 1st, 2014

Statewide - The latest Marquette University Law School poll today shows a strong supermajority of voters (61%) continue to support accepting the federal funds for BadgerCare, implying strong support for the twenty local advisory referendums on BadgerCare about to take place around the state.

“The results of today’s Marquette Law School poll continues to show a supermajority of voters believe Walker’s decision to turn away billions in federal funds for BadgerCare is wrong for Wisconsin,” said Robert Kraig, Executive Director of Citizen Action of Wisconsin. “A clear supermajority of voters oppose this disastrous decision and want the state to say yes to BadgerCare.”

Rejecting the federal funds for BadgerCare has consistently been one of the least popular decisions by Governor Walker as polled by Marquette Law School. Less than 30% of registered voters in all of the last four Marquette polls agree with the decision to reject the federal funds for BadgerCare. Meanwhile support for BadgerCare has only grown. From 57.5% support in the August poll, to 61% today.

On November 4th, twenty Wisconsin communities representing almost half the state will see advisory referendums calling on the state to reverse course and accept these federal funds. Giving over one million voters across the state the opportunity to raise their voices on this critical public policy issue.
