Sen. Ellis and the legislature should accept billions in federal Medicaid funds for BadgerCare
Tuesday, November 26th at 11:30 AM, Citizen Action of Wisconsin, Protect Your Care and Fox Valley residents impacted by Gov. Walker's proposed changes to BadgerCare will call on State Senator Michael Ellis to vote for an alternative that helps the public. Senator Ellis must decide during the upcoming special session called by the Governor whether to go along with this proposed delay or to end the headache and call for accepting the enhanced federal Medicaid funds.
Gov. Walker's proposal delays forcing 77,000 off of BadgerCare until March 31st by preventing 80,000 additional citizens below the poverty line from joining BadgerCare until April 1st. Those uninsured under the poverty line denied BadgerCare January 1st will have no ability to access either public or private health insurance until April.
Wisconsin should instead accept billions in federal Medicaid funds for BadgerCare, guaranteeing all residents permanent access to affordable care.
