Raise Wisconsin's Minimum Wage!

We know that workers cannot make it on $7.25.We also know that when workers can’t afford the basics, the whole economy slows down and everyone loses.

It’s just economic common-sense: Putting more money into the hands of working people ensures they have more to spend on goods and services, increasing demand in our economy and spurring job growth.

I make $8 an hour and am finding if more difficult to make ends meet. I can’t image $7.25 an hr. Haven’t had a raise in over 10 years. Minimum wage should raised to $10 an hr., and small increases to help with the costs of living. This would also help people not rely on government programs. Ex. On obamacare, was cheap the first year. Second year, had an increase of an $20 a month more for health insurance, with a high deductible. It don’t seem like much but take that times 12. Where are you suppose to come with this extra money, with the same paycheck amount. Had to take crappier insurance just to not get a fine, for not having insurance. After the bills are paid, not much left. Fruit, is almost $3 a pound, but yet were suppose to eat healthy. Years ago, it was .79 a pound. Everything is going up. The politicans don’t care how you suffer to meet financial ends meet. They think if they raise minimum wage, the businesses’ will have to raise the costs of the products as well. They have been all along, at least it would give them a good reason. There a lot of businesses that want good quality workers at low wages. They think the minimum wage is what high school kids are making at Burger King etc..and that we shouldn’t raise minimum wage because the only people that make this are high school kids. Wisconsin does not care about it’s workforce. Wisconsin has not raised minimum wage since 2009. How much has increased then? Can’t the lawmakers realize some sort of raise should be given at least every 2 years. If people had more money to spend, I think the economy would get better. I know what it is like just at $8 an hour. Very hard. Always borrowing money, cuz the paycheck just doesn’t cover it anymore. Back in the 60’s the dollar went much further then it does now. Going back to a previous post that was done that would be $21 an hour, to today’s dollar. If that were so, why does website exist demanding it be increased? Lazy politicans representing Wisconsin. Raise minimum wage and quit increasing businesses’ taxes so they can afford to give there employees more money. It should be raised to at least $10 an hour. Long overdue. Other states raised the minimum wage. Never Wisconsin. Why? Wisconsin should just be ashamed on how they are running things. Scott Walker is no help either. It is just a no brainer.

To expose the lie that people are too lazy to work. Low minimum wages simply make more people eligible for public assistance thereby subsidizing labor costs for low wag employers. If an employer cannot afford to pay a living wage minimum wage, he/she are not in a position to add employees. Tax payers are sick of subsidizing low wage employers’ labor costs.

The minimum wage is not a living wage. The minimum wage should continually rise and be reviewed to reflect inflation, when the cost of living increases, etc. The minimum wage in this country should not be a poverty level wage. This is disgusting and it makes me ashamed to be a part of a country that thinks this is OK.

I’m a single mom of 3 who has been at her job for almost 12 years and she is making 13.00 dollars an hour. After 12 years this is pathetic. I absolutely think the minimum wage should be 15 dollars an hour in every state of America. We hardworking people deserve it!

Hi,we need a $15.00 dollar minimum wage all over the country…not just in a few states. The Lord God knows that people canot make it on 7.00 dollars an hour or 9.00 dollars an hour nor even 10.00 dollars an hour.People need to be able to live to be able to afford a decent income for atleast the basiuc necessities of life.If all companys in the Usa want to be greedy’ and starve there employess while they continue’..themselves continue to profit and along with there share holders…in large corporations..are the only ones who beneift’..at the expense of the rest of the 54% of people in this country who are barely surviving financiallyIt’s the right thing to do…enough is enough of greedy’….business people’..wanting to always have there own way’..while they are able to live a decent life’..that is wll well and fine’..however…ask all of them to live’..on $7 to 10 dollars per hour to support themselves and all of their family and extended financial obligations’..and see what kind of response’..that you will receive from them!!

It is impossible for anyone to live on their own with minimum wage, even working full time—even in the cheapest, most terrible studio apartment that can be found!! I’m lucky- I have friends to move in with when college ends, but what about those who are alone out there? It’s an environment that almost supports people becoming homeless, because it’s absolutely hopeless.

It is extremely hard to raise a family with these low wages. My fiance can not work due to an accident so I’m left trying to support our family of 4 all alone and have been hitting a lot of rough bumps on the way. I don’t even make minimum wage I make a little over a dollar more and I’m still struggling to survive with my family, so I can only imagine how poorly those who make that low amount are doing it. How are we supposed to teach our children responsibility when we can’t even pay all of our bills.
