Minnesota & Wisconsin Health Leaders to Discuss Local Impact of Scott Walker’s Health Care Repeal Proposal Friday

Walker Presidential Campaign Repeal Plan Disadvantages High Cost States Like Wisconsin and Threatens Progress Made in Minnesota

Friday August 28th at 9 AM Citizen Action of Wisconsin and Take Action Minnesota will hold a news event with State Representative Jennifer Schultz (DFL - Duluth) to discuss the local impact of Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker’s campaign health care repeal proposal released last week in Minnesota. His plan if enacted would lead to skyrocketing costs increases for many consumers both in Wisconsin and Minnesota, especially those in the Superior area. Walker’s plan would also gut consumer protections against pre-existing condition and gender discrimination, as well as the substantial gains made in Minnesota to combat high health costs.

Citizen Action of Wisconsin and Take Action Minnesota will call on elected leaders to end the partisan bickering on the Affordable Care Act and instead propose solutions to improve the healthcare system and rein in costs. Although Minnesotans also struggle with high costs, Superior residents  pay 89% higher premiums on average.

Those present will show how Walker’s repeal proposal actually represents a “bait and switch” health care plan that will immediately force millions Americans off of their health care coverage without providing any viable alternative.
