Radio-Active’s mission is to break the grip of the right-wing media monopoly in Milwaukee.

The fact is, without the right-wing talk radio monopoly, there would be no Scott Walker or Rebecca Bradley. There are 5 conservative radio hosts in Milwaukee who, with unfettered access to our public airwaves, spew racist, hateful content and are the bulwark of Walker propaganda. Their radio monopoly is responsible for splitting cities and suburbs, shifting public opinion to the far-right, and is largely setting the extreme agenda at the state Capitol.

Our plan is to make the breaking of the right-wing media monopoly a permanent part of our organizing cooperative.

To begin, we will monitor right-wing radio programming, document their rhetoric, then use their hateful words to demand accountability from their advertisers and the media corporations that own their stations. We’ll build a network of progressive groups who will call out their racism publicly in a rapid-response fashion, and finally we'll explore what it would take to start up a community-owned progressive talk radio station.

So how do we do it? We've already raised enough money to hire a full-time organizer for 3 months. At first, that organizers job will be to recruit more monthly sustaining co-op members. Once the organizer recruits 200-250 more members, they will work together on the right-wing accountability project and assist in exploring ways to startup our own progressive talk radio station.

As the journalist for the Capital Times writing the Madravenspeak living wildlife column, I would like to contribute a regular segment for the other 99.9999% of species who are being tortured and destroyed rapidly on this planet. With scientists from Berkeley to Princeton to Duke warning us that we humans are the “walking dead” and will not escape our destruction of ocean life and wildlife and invertibrate life and climate, we must not only learn to respect other races, but all life.
Right now, as of 1970-2010, WWF and the London Zoological Society studies find that 52% of all wildlife on the planet was destroyed during that 40 years and we are 6 more years into a trajectory of ecosystem collapses. It is not linear but exponential with dire consequences. We need to reform every system of convenient toxic destruction on earth and make the “great turning” now.

The Call of Life documentary shown repeatedly on Link and Free Speech TV is a 2007 documentary with Richard Leakey saying we must save life on earth now ( along with many many scientists. ) The Racing Extinction documentary can be reviewed here:

I have written the Madravenspeak column the past five years in an effort to help our wildlife, and been a guest on Wisconsin Public Radio many times. The Madravenspeak archive can be found here:

    I hope I can contribute.

Thanks for starting this. I call in to Thom’s show often.

AIGN THE PETITION; THEN CONTRIBUTE AND VOLUNTEER! "It’s about time! “We’re Mad as Hell and We’re Not Gonna’ Take it Anymore!” The mantra from the famous movie “NETWORK” couldn’t express the state of talk radio in Milwaukee. Imagine driving through S.E. WI and tuning into any daytime AM radio station… You would think Greater MKE was one of the most conservative cities in USA.. Quite the opposite, Despite the pseudo-Independent-democratic Scott Abele, County Board Supervisor’s, proclamations to the contrary. He is part of the problem. Not the solution… Chris Larson is the only choice to restore order to our once Democratic majority. This goal of not just monitoring the conservative AM stations and reporting their abuse of OUR airwaves is a start that must be followed up with a viable Liberal counter-point. I strongly support the efforts of Dr. Robert Kraig Executive Director and the Citizen Action of WI in their efforts to bring a balance to the Blathering Fools that Occupy the AM talk radio, AND THEIR SPONSORS!
