One year ago, on May 15th, Milwaukee workers went on strike against some of the most powerful & profitable corporations in the world, demanding higher wages. Since then, thousands of workers have joined the fight in Milwaukee, and already we've won a County living wage ordinance. Now, it's time to focus on the next steps for the movement to continue organizing, mobilizing, and winning for working people.
Please join Raise up MKE at an important event, a MKE Community Meeting, on May 6th, to celebrate the movement we've built and discuss where we are going now. At the Raise Up MKE Community Meeting, we will all talk about what's at stake, what we're fighting for, who's in the fight -- and importantly, where we are going together.
John Nichols from the Nation will speak while we enjoy a meal together. We'll talk with workers who are leading the way in the movement. We'll discuss next steps -- including a Day of Action and a plan for a summer of organizing & political action around raising wages. We'll celebrate what we've built and re-commit to the struggle ahead.
