Last week, dozens of workers from three local McDonald’s stores were abruptly terminated by franchise owner MacPyles Corporation without explanation. Workers and community supporters plan to rally at 1 pm on Friday at one of the worksites, 5344 N. Port Washington Road.
“We deserve better,” said Amy Price, who was fired after five years of service and plans to attend the event. “We gave our heart and soul to build up these stores only to get fired right before the holidays.” Price learned of her job loss when she reported for work only to discover she was unable to log in to the computer system.
“Workers like Amy are dedicated, long-term employees,” said Jennifer Epps-Addison, executive director of Wisconsin Jobs Now. “We’ve got their backs in this fight for economic justice.”
