Ron Johnson hides his opposition to helping the long-term unemployed.

Senator Ron Johnson sided with his cronies this week in helping to block a vote on reinstating benefits to the long term unemployed.  Two bills were offered—one fully paid for—and the Republicans offered only shameful procedural protests designed to avoid public accountability for voting against America’s unemployed.

Hiding from the truth about unemployment is becoming more common.  There are 3 unemployed people for every job opening.  But if you have been unemployed for more than 6 months, you have only a 2% chance of getting a call or interview for each application you submit, down from a 10% rate prior to 6 months. Unfortunately, conservative politicians only want to punish the unemployed.

In Wisconsin, conservatives in the legislature have a plan to cut unemployment insurance from 26 weeks to 12 weeks. We need you to help stop this plan. Sign our petition to your state legislators urging them to oppose this attack on working families.
