Click below to send the following message to the Chairs of the Senate and Assembly Committee on Insurance who are currently holding up a hearing on Senator Chris Larson and Representative Deb Kolste's "rate review" bill designed to challenge and preventive excessive and unjustified health insurance rates.
"Dear State Senator Frank Lasee and State Representative Kevin Petersen,
As chairs of the Senate Committee on Insurance, Housing, and Trade and the Assembly Committee on Insurance respectively, I am requesting that before open enrollment at Healthcare.gov begins that you allow for a public hearing on SB277 and AB 359, the health insurance rate review bill introduced by State Senator Chris Larson and State Representative Debra Kolste.
Wisconsin is one of the only states in the nation to still not release the health insurance rates that individual and small business consumers will see for 2016 at Healthcare.gov. Which means there is still time to review dramatic rate increases to ensure consumers are not shocked by excessive and possibly unjustified increases.
Companies like United Healthcare have proposed increases of over 22%, yet Wisconsin's Commissioner of Insurance has not held a single hearing to look into whether proposed increases like these are justified.
The Affordable Care Act is here to stay, the state needs to get into the business of using its powers to help make healthcare more affordable. Otherwise we will fall behind states that do.
Please allow for a public hearing on the health insurance rate review bill to protect consumers!"
