Citizen Action & Nancy Pelosi Reveal Trump’s Health Care Sabotage

Friday, July 27th

Last Saturday, Citizen Action held a successful news event with U.S. House Democratic Leader Nancy Pelosi and Milwaukee area healthcare professionals and advocates to fight back against Donald Trump’s escalating sabotage of health coverage. The event featured a number of first-line caregivers and health professionals in addition to Nancy Pelosi. U.S. Representative Gwen Moore was scheduled to appear but was unable to attend due to a personal medical issue.

The event also included the Wisconsin Federation of Nurses & Health Professionals, Independence First, and League of Progressive Seniors.

At the event, Leader Pelosi, and key Citizen Action leaders from the healthcare professions, sounded the alarm bell on Trump’s latest acts of sabotage, attacks so viscus that they could unwind the ACA. Read Nancy Pelosi’s remarks at the event.

Trump is so desperate to undermine the ACA now because he fears that his right-wing enablers like Scott Walker may be swept out of office on the health care issue! Citizen Action has been calling out Scott Walker on health care sabotage years before it became fashionable to use that term to describe the immoral actions of Paul Ryan and Donald Trump. We have also been saying for months that Scott Walker is terrified that he will lose reelection because of his record of sabotaging health coverage.

Citizen Action continues to build support for constructive solutions to the health care cost crisis. We are the driving force behind the BadgerCare Public Option bill, which is supported by all the major Democratic Candidates for Governor! The BadgerCare Public Option is a big stepping stone towards, Medicare for All. We can weather this storm and make the next big steps towards establishing health care as a fundamental human right.

The event was covered by the media. Check out coverage form Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel and Fox 6 TV.
