Citizen Action’s Brew Fest!
This Wednesday evening Citizen Action members emerged from the COVID pandemic to gather in person for our Brew Fest fundraiser, presented by the UAW. Thank you to everyone who was able to attend and donate to Citizen Action, providing critical support to our organizing.
This year at Brew Fest we presented our first-ever Democracy Defender awards to Anita Johnson and Mark Thomsen honoring their work protecting our democracy against relentless attacks.
Citizen Action endorsed U.S. Senate candidate, Lt. Governor Mandela Barnes, attended and spoke to the gathering about his critical campaign to replace Sen. Ron Johnson. We encourage you to volunteer to make phone calls for Mandela every Wednesday evening, 5pm – 8pm.
If you were unable to attend but would like to donate, click here, we appreciate your support.
North Side Rising at Brew Fest
Brewfest is a celebration of Community Building. Thanks to Citizen Action North Side Rising members Willie Pritchard, Rachel Marken and Anthony Williams for attending and building community power through organization.
Anthony (right) is addressing food insecurity via neighborhood gardens. North Side Rising is using the Complete Streets Model to solve reckless driving and cut carbon emissions. We have a newer member working on solutions to litter and illegal dumping in our urban setting.

Join The Sierra Club & Citizen Action for an important documentary about the Plastic Crisis
Humanity has created over 8,000,000 tons of plastic. Only 10% of that plastic has been recycled. Our oceans, our land, our rivers, our lakes and even our own bodies are filled with plastics. In order to protect our planet’s future we must do everything we can to put the plastics industry out of business. That’s why July is recognized as Plastics Free Month!
Citizen Action of Wisconsin and the Coulee Region Sierra Club are hosting a very special free screening and discussion about the documentary “The Story of Plastic”.
In order to watch and join you will need to first register HERE. Then you can watch the film on your own time (you will be given a link to the free screener. Then on July 19th at 7:00 PM we will be hosting a very special Zoom conference to discuss the film and plan our actions to tackle the plastics crisis.
Sign up NOW to join the conversation and help ramp up the fight against plastics pollution!

Citizen Action in the News
Citizen Action’s Director Robert Kraig was on the Earl Ingram Radio show on the progressive talk radio station for Southeast Wisconsin for the full hour to discuss the new Climate and Jobs Packaged, recently announced at the State Capitol, as well as other Wisconsin political issues.
Listen to “Ron Johnson Phony” Battleground Wisconsin Podcast
We debrief Citizen Action’s Brew Fest featuring Mandela Barnes and great beverages. Thanks to everyone who attended. We review the news Sen. Ron Johnson tried to transmit Wisconsin’s fake electors to Vice President Mike Pence on January 6th and his pathetic response when confronted by the Capitol media. We discuss the new MU Law Poll which finds Mandela Barnes is leading the U.S. Senate democratic primary and in the general election.
We take a look at what authoritarian conservative rule looks like this week as we wait for the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision on Roe v Wade.
