Citizen Action Announces 2022 Fall Election Post Primary Endorsements
This week, Citizen Action announced 32 newly endorsed Fall Election candidates. All fall endorsed candidates completed a 2022 Citizen Action candidate questionnaire and most have been interviewed by Citizen Action staff and member leaders from one of our regional organizing cooperatives.
All candidates were finally approved by a vote of the Citizen Action Board. Citizen Action is excited to announce the following Congressional, statewide, and state legislative endorsed candidates.
These 2022 Fall Election endorsements are in addition to our previous pre-primary endorsements which can be seen here. There will be a second round of Fall Election endorsements announced in mid-September. Make a difference! Fern Island Park, 500 RIVER Dr, Wausau, at the shelter between the playground and skateboard park
Join members and friends of the Citizen Action of Wisconsin North Central Organizing Co-op, to help elect a true Progressive champion, who has proven his commitment to the values that we at Citizen Action hold dear. Mandela Barnes was raised by working class parents, and started out as a community organizer, before running for office.
Kristin Conway for the 85th Assembly District is also a Citizen Action endorsed candidate. She has worked hard for our communities, and we would like to return the favor, by getting on the doors for her.
Join us to celebrate campaign season, and to start knocking on doors. We will be using a deep canvass method when talking to people. These are about quality conversations more than quantity. We hope that you can join us!

Citizen Action North Side Rising Organizing Cooperative member profile: Rachel Markin
Some people love themselves on camera and being the subject of media coverage. Not Rachel Marken (middle in pic).
You will not often see her face. Rachel is willing to use her expertise creating media to help North Side Rising with a campaign to increase our ability to get more information to our community. Wisconsinites might remember positive youth messages from the past like “Just Say No!”, and “Hang Tough”.
North Side Rising is committed to spreading positive messages and explaining the Green New Deal job opportunities to our youth. We plan to use various platforms to explain the extraordinary opportunities for family supporting jobs that the Inflationary Reduction Act funding can provide.

Citizen Action Northwestern Organizing Cooperative supports Building Unity “Democracy Tour”

Members joined the Pure Water Days Parade in downtown Chippewa Falls on Saturday, August 13 and on Sunday, August 14 in Eau Claire’s Carson Park convened a diversity of people and organizations for a “Let’s Talk Turnout” discussion about how to increase voter turnout for the election on November 8th!
Volunteer with Citizen Action to make phone calls for Mandela Barnes next Wednesday, August 31st, 5:00pm – 8:00pm.
Citizen Action in the news
Citizen Action’s Executive Director Robert Kraig was on the Earl Ingram Show to talk about how the news media frame is influencing the U.S. Senate race. Why exactly is it news that Mandela Barnes allegedly attended a “lingerie party” when he was a very young man?

Listen to “Student loans & UW Health nurses prepare to strike” Battleground Wisconsin Podcast
We discuss President Biden’s announcement that he will use his presidential powers to cancel $10,000 in student loans for those making less than $125,000 and $20,000 for those who were low enough income to qualify for Pell Grants. Robert discusses how this benefits all middle class students and is especially targeted to the most financially challenged, including BIPOC students with very high student debts. We talk about the vote of over 2,000 UW Health nurses to authorize a 3 day strike in September to demand recognition of their union from hospital administrators. We review a new report finding public employees are leaving the sector at the highest rate in decades. Robert previews our “How to talk about the Inflation Reduction Act” training this Thursday at 6pm (WATCH recording of event below.) This week Citizen Action announced 32 new candidate endorsements for the November 8th election and discuss why it is so important for everyone to volunteer this fall to elect Mandela Barnes to take the next steps in passing a bold progressive agenda.
