Citizen Action’s Hospital Accountability Campaign Featured at Bernie Sanders Eau Claire Rally
Dr. Emily Anderson of Citizen Action of Wisconsin introduced Sen. Bernie Sanders at his rally in Eau Claire last Friday, June 28th. Emily spoke about the impacts of local hospital closures on working people, as well as Citizen Action’s campaign to restore consumer protections and public oversight to our medical care delivery system.
Citizen Action of Wisconsin is working with healthcare leaders across the state, including State Sen. Jeff Smith, D-Brunswick, to develop legislation that will lower healthcare costs, increase hospital accountability, and stabilize our fragile medical care system.

Bench Marking Program in Milwaukee Passed Common Council Unanimously!
We are thrilled to announce that the City of Milwaukee Common Council unanimously passed the bench marking program resolution at the July 2nd meeting. This significant victory was made possible by the unwavering support of Citizen Action members, with over 20 individuals submitting letters of support to the Common Council.
The Milwaukee Efficient Buildings Bench marking Program mandates that commercial and multifamily buildings over 50,000 square feet and public buildings over 10,000 square feet report their energy usage annually. This policy is a key component of Milwaukee’s Climate and Equity Action Plan, which aims to cut energy waste, lower utility bills, and promote equity in access to quality housing.
By publicly sharing energy data, the program will drive towards more energy-efficient buildings, ultimately fostering a greener and more resilient Milwaukee. You can view the resolution explainer here.
Listen to Judicial Coup Battleground Wisconsin Podcast
On this special 4th of July edition of Battleground Wisconsin, Robert Kraig has a bracing interview with former federal prosecutor Dennis Aftergut on the Supreme Court’s judicial coup against American democracy. Aftergut, who has argued cases before the California and U.S. Supreme Court, digs into the shocking immunity decision, the gutting of federal regulatory authority built up since the New Deal, and the decisions on abortion and guns. He concludes that democracy and basic freedom is on the ballot because of the excesses of a right-wing authoritarian Supreme Court.
