Citizen Action hosts events about federal funding for weatherizing homes

Citizen Action of Wisconsin recently teamed up with the League of Women Voters Climate Action Group and Green Homeowners United to host a luncheon that brought homeowners and renters in Southeast Wisconsin together. “Maximize Your Home’s Potential: Leveraging IRA Benefits for a Greener Wisconsin” focused on how to tap into the federal rebates available through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) to make their homes more energy-efficient.

Whether you’re considering solar panels, adding insulation, upgrading kitchen appliances, or making other energy-efficient improvements, there’s federal money available to help lower your energy costs and make your home more sustainable. Interested in learning what you are eligible for, check out the IRA Incentive Calculator here.

If you are interested in attending future events on the Inflation Reduction Act and funding for homeowners or interested in helping get the word out about federal funding opportunities to homeowners email Citizen Action’s Climate Action Policy Coordinator, Kat Klawes at [email protected].

VOLUNTEER to make phone calls from home for Citizen Action endorsed candidate, Ryan Spaude, next Tuesday, September 3rd, 5pm.

This Green Bay area Assembly District was a gerrymandered Republican seat before redistricting. Ryan Spaude winning in November is critical for Democrats to win a majority in the State Assembly. We need your help to make that happen.

Citizen Action will be co-sponsoring Get Out The Vote social events with Minocqua Brewing in Eau Claire, Wausau, Stevens Point, and Green Bay. The events will combine fun socializing with fellow progressives with the recruitment of volunteers to knock doors and make phone calls with us and other progressive organizations, like Citizen Action of Wisconsin, talking directly to voters.

Citizen Action in the news

Citizen Action’s Robert Kraig was on the Earl Ingram Show to discuss the latest in the presidential race as we head into Labor Day, and Wauwatosa’s crazy plan to partition part of the Milwaukee Public Schools territory.

Listen Here

The Earl Ingram Show airs on the growing Civic Media radio network from 8 AM to 10 AM weekdays. Robert is the regular guest every Wednesday 9 AM to 10 AM. Civic Media now has radio stations in every media market where Citizen Action has an organizing co-op. Listen to “Better in a Union” Battleground Wisconsin Podcast

Happy Labor Day Weekend. We discuss the significance of Labor Day, the surging support for unions, particularly among young people, and the critical need to restore democracy at work by passing the Protect the Right to Organize (PRO) Act. We encourage all our listeners to attend an organized labor event near you, including Democratic Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz at Milwaukee’s Labor Fest this Monday.

We update the developing crisis in Wisconsin’s monopolistic hospital and health systems. A new Eau Claire Leader Telegram article where a local doctor declares: “I don’t think it’s an understatement to say the HSHS closure and Prevea closure caused a medical crisis in the Chippewa Valley. I certainly see that when it comes to behavioral health each week.” We decry the failure of leaders to step up and address the brewing crisis that will surely engulf the rest of the state, starting with the increasingly troubled Ascension hospitals in southeast Wisconsin, HSHS hospitals in Green Bay, and down the road Marshfield Clinics if their latest merger does not work out.

We welcome newly Citizen Action endorsed state legislative candidate Angelina Cruz to the show to discuss her campaign for a Racine-area State Assembly District 62 and how her background as an educator and union leader have prepared her for the Legislature
