Citizen Action’s Work with Milwaukee Public Schools is featured

Citizen Action of Wisconsin has been working with Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) since October 2023 to secure climate funding and develop comprehensive climate action plans. Our efforts to ensure that students and staff benefit from sustainable, energy-efficient upgrades have now been featured in Fast Company! The article highlights the collaboration between teachers, activists, and community organizations, including Citizen Action, to rebuild and retrofit schools with green solutions. These upgrades will not only improve learning environments but also reduce energy costs and help fight climate change.

MKE LaborFest 2024 Welcomes VP Candidate Tim Walz

Ironworker VP Rich Kangus of Local #8 spoke at the event. It’s about jobs. The IRA (Inflation Reduction Act) has created an explosion in work for members of the trades. Historic repair and additions to our infrastructure, from the ground up. Good paying union jobs that build up our infrastructure and improve our communities.

The investment that IRA has brought to WI ironworkers means that instead of having a work schedule that projects 18 months of work, they are now looking at a scheduled work load projecting 10 years.

Imagine what continued monetary investments in our state would look like. Increased financial stability for more families  while rebuilding roads, schools, updating and protecting water sources, improving energy efficiency to protect our planet.

I talked with workers who cheered the opportunities for work.  A good paying job will stabilize and change one’s life. These are career jobs. Jobs that pay enough to build a family, save for a home, invest, continue education and personal growth, and give to a good cause.

Let’s pay attention to the hard working labor workers. Support more good paying jobs with union benefits that build our communities up.

Listen to “The Battle 4 Wisconsin” Battleground Wisconsin Podcast

We are two months away from the November 5th election and campaigns are charging full speed ahead. Robert debriefs Tim Walz’s speech at LaborFest in Milwaukee this Monday and we discuss how Walz’s governing record in Minnesota can be a blueprint for Wisconsin Democrats, including a BadgerCare Public Option, paid family leave, a child tax credit, and affordable child care.

We encourage our listeners to make next Tuesday a Day of Democracy by joining us for a 5pm – 7:45pm phone bank for Vinnie Miresse, a progressive state legislative candidate in Stevens Point and watch the Presidential debate after the phone bank

We review the fallout from a disgusting Republican ad that falsely blames Senator Tammy Baldwin for the killing of 6 Waukesha parade goers in 2021, re-traumatizing Waukesha residents. The ad was condemned by the Waukesha mayor. President Biden announced almost $600M for Dairyland Power Cooperative clean energy projects.  It’s one of 16 rural electric cooperatives receiving a total of $7.3 billion for renewable energy projects funded by the Inflation Reduction Act. We talk about how the battle for the State Legislature this November is about taking on powerful private interests like CAFO operators and school privatizers.
