Fighting for Fairness: Join Citizem Action’s NEW Campaign for a 2% Utility Rate Cap.
Wisconsin’s energy landscape is controlled by monopoly utility companies, which prioritize profits for shareholders over the needs of our communities. These corporations are raking in billions while leaving Wisconsin families to bear the financial burden.
The burden of these corporate profits falls squarely on Wisconsin families. On average, Wisconsin households spend 6% of their income on energy bills, but low-income families face an even greater strain, often exceeding 10% of their income just to cover utility costs. For low-income households, these bills are devastating, forcing families to make impossible decisions, like whether to pay for electricity or afford basic necessities such as food and healthcare.
Citizen Action of Wisconsin is launching a statewide campaign to implement a 2% rate cap on utility bills. This cap would ensure that no household pays more than 2% of their income on energy costs, offering much-needed relief to families who are struggling under the weight of constant rate increases
Citizen Action of Wisconsin believes that energy is a basic right, not a luxury. Together, we can break the stranglehold of utility companies and build a more just, sustainable future. Join us in the fight for a 2% rate cap and take back control of our energy system. With your help, we can ensure that all Wisconsinites have access to affordable, clean energy—today and for generations to come.

Citizen Action in the News
Citizen Action’s Robert Kraig was on the Earl Ingram Show for the full hour to discuss whether the Trump/Vance lies about pet eating are actually benefiting their campaign.
Citizen Action Executive Director Robert Kraig joined David Liners of WISDOM and Angela Lang from BLOC in an OPED in the Wisconsin Examiner focused on the unfinished business of criminal justice reform.
Listen to “Organizing Revival is Here” Battleground Wisconsin Podcast
We discuss the Organizing Revival, launched by Citizen Action with our national partners earlier this year, which is investing in improving permanent organizing capacity in every corner of the country. Leaders from 9 Midwestern states converged in Milwaukee last week to strategize on this critical power building initiative. Next, Robert encourages your attendance at next Wednesday’s statewide virtual Healthcare Action Meeting, where the group is engaged in a deep strategic analysis of the health care industry.
We laud the effort of state and national advocates who urged Congress this week to raise the corporate tax rate and ensure those who make over $400,000 annually “pay their fair share” to fund critical investments such as child care, and care for the elderly and those with disabilities. On the other end we call out the International President of the Teamsters who used the crutch of internal polling to sit out this historic presidential election. The Teamsters’ Black Caucus and Teamsters Wisconsin Council took a more proactive stance, supporting pro-labor candidate Kamala Harris.
In other news, RFK Jr is trying to get off Wisconsin ballots days before they begin to be mailed. Why is he spending so much money on this? Robert also highlights two Issues (immigration and abortion) where the politics have dramatically shifted over the past two decades. Which will have the biggest impact in the 2024 Election?
