Take Action: Advocate for a Sustainable Milwaukee County
Make your voice heard and support a greener, healthier Milwaukee County by joining our fight to expand the Office of Sustainability in the 2025 County Budget. With only two staff members, the office is currently under-resourced to address the growing challenges of climate change, energy efficiency, and green infrastructure. By adding a new staff position, Milwaukee County will be able to secure billions in federal funding from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and other sources to drive critical investments in clean energy, electric vehicles, and community resilience.
Sign the petition today and advocate for a sustainable, equitable future for Milwaukee County!
We need your support at the upcoming Milwaukee County Budget session on October 26th at 6 PM at the Zoofari Center. Your testimony is essential to ensuring the Office of Sustainability has the resources it needs to secure funding, expand green jobs, and improve public health. To help you prepare, Citizen Action of Wisconsin is hosting a workshop on October 24th at 6 PM via Zoom where we’ll discuss the 2025 Milwaukee County Budget, our key asks, and how to craft effective testimony. Whether you’re a seasoned advocate or new to the process, this workshop will provide valuable tools for making your voice heard. To register for the workshop, email Kat Klawes at [email protected].
Let’s come together to build a sustainable future for Milwaukee County!
Unlock IRA Benefits for Homeowners: Learn How to Save on Energy Upgrades
Citizen Action’s Kat Klawes recently presented at the Forward Together Wisconsin IRA Convening last week, where she shared the incredible opportunities the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) offers for homeowners.
The IRA provides a range of rebates and incentives, including energy efficiency tax credits, the HOMES rebate for energy-saving upgrades, and upcoming rebates for heat pumps and home electrification. To help you take advantage of these benefits, check out the IRA Calculator which allows homeowners to estimate their potential savings.
Kat is actively presenting in the community to inform residents about how the IRA can lower energy bills and make homes more sustainable. If you’re interested in learning more or would like to schedule a presentation for your group, please reach out to Kat Klawes at [email protected].

Citizen Action in the News
Citizen Action’s Robert Kraig was on the Earl Ingram Show, as he is every Wednesday from 9 AM to 10 AM, and discussed what to make of Donald Trump’s threat to use the military against his opponents.
Listen to “19 days to make a difference” Battleground Wisconsin Podcast.
With less than 3 weekends left before this historic election, the presidential and U.S. senate race in Wisconsin is tied. What does it all mean? Early voting starts next Tuesday and we continue to encourage our listeners to get out and talk to voters on the doors and by phone to close the deal and overcome the toxic ads demonizing our immigrant and trans neighbors and friends. We also give our unsolicited advice on what Kamala Harris and Tammy Baldwin need to do to win in Wisconsin.
We follow up on a recent Public Service Commission (PSC) public hearing where the PSC tried to ban the media from covering the hearing and the lousy representation of PSC members even attending the public hearing reveals utility capture and their utter failure to represent the public interest.
We continue to sound the alarm bells about the need for hospital and health system regulation, as Ascension continues its downward spiral. The latest news is that Sixteenth Street Community Health Centers in Milwaukee has switched maternity hospitals from Ascension’s premier Milwaukee hospital to an Aurora hospital. Robert closes with hope that the Biden Administration will follow through the President’s threat this week to cut off Israeli military aid in 30 days if Gaza aid flow does not radically improve. Is Biden finally going to have some backbone?
Listen to the new show!
