OUR ASK: Advocate for the IRA Fund Development and Partnership Coordinator
We are requesting $100,000 in the 2025 County Budget to hire a full-time IRA Fund Development and Partnership Coordinator. This role is vital to securing millions in federal funding from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and other sources like the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). This position would actively seek out and apply for grants, ensuring Milwaukee County accesses the maximum amount of federal funds available for sustainability projects. By securing this funding, the Coordinator would help drive projects that support clean energy, green infrastructure, and community-wide environmental improvements.

Save Milwaukee County’s Right to Counsel!
Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley has left out the Right to Counsel (RTC) program from his 2025 budget recommendation. RTC gives tenants access to free legal defense against landlords.
Join Citizen Action, the Milwaukee Autonomous Tenants Union, and the Poor People’s Campaign on Monday, October 28th at 6:30pm as we testify about why we need to save this program!

Citizen Action North Central Organizing Co-op Member Spotlight
Citizen Action is the force that it is, because of our members playing an active role in their communities and in government. This includes calling and phone banking in support of candidates that are committed to our Progressive platform. This platform was created with input from members in both urban and rural parts of the State. Jerry Sheff, is a founding member of the NC Organizing Co-op.
He’s a retired doctor, and is passionate about healthcare reform. His top issue though, is the climate crisis, and supporting efforts to slow or reverse the damage caused by human activity. He typically does door knocking, but wanted to give phone banking from home a try. He did great! He had some productive conversations, with one person moving closer to supporting Tara Johnson for Assembly, after talking to him. These calls make a difference! Sign up to help out today.
Tell Microsoft and We Energies: No New Gas Plants for Wisconsin’s Future
Citizen Action of Wisconsin is urging Microsoft to power its new data center in Mount Pleasant with local clean energy instead of fossil fuels. We Energies plans to use this project as a reason to invest billions in new methane gas infrastructure, jeopardizing Wisconsin’s climate goals and risking increased air pollution. Join us in calling on Microsoft to commit to sustainable, locally-produced renewable energy—sign the petition today to support a cleaner, healthier Wisconsin.

Citizen Action in the News
On his weekly appearance on the Earl Ingram Show (9 AM to 10 AM Wednesday’s) Citizen Action’s Robert Kraig assessed the most recent polls, and Donald Trump’s embrace of violence.
Listen to “2024 election ignores climate & healthcare crisis” Battleground Wisconsin Podcast
Early voting is now underway, as Trump/Vance and Harris/Walz crisscross Wisconsin and the other battleground states. The first day of Wisconsin early voting saw record turnout of over 100,000 voters this Tuesday. What does it mean for the same day vote? We encourage our listeners to volunteer in Citizen Action’s final voter contact activities on phones and doors talking directly to targeted voters we need to win. Are you with us?
In spite of two “thousand year event” hurricanes less than two weeks apart, and the warmest September on record, the climate change issue is the worst casualty of the 2024 election season. Are voters not interested, or are politicians refusing to talk about it?
The second most ignored issue in the 2024 election is the current hospital and health system crisis ripping a hole in our health care safety net. We discuss how the hospital closure crisis in Eau Claire is also shocking the Madison hospital system, and the latest mega hospital chain merger of Marshfield Clinic Health System & Sanford Health.
We close by welcoming Milwaukee Area Technical College educator Luz Sosa to discuss the discrimination Latinos are experiencing at MATC and how it connects to Act 10 and the gerrymandered Legislature’s chronic under funding of public education.
Listen to the show.
