Citizen Action members testify at Milwaukee County Budget public hearings this week.
Take Action in support!

Thanks to all the Citizen Action members and coalition partners who testified yesterday at the Milwaukee County Budget Listening Session to advocate for a stronger, more sustainable green energy future.

Citizen Action and our allies are requesting $100,000 in the 2025 County Budget to hire a IRA Coordinator. This role is vital to securing millions in federal funding from the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) and other sources like the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA). This position would actively seek out and apply for grants and direct-pay funding, ensuring Milwaukee County accesses the maximum amount of federal funds available for sustainability projects. By securing this funding, the coordinator would help drive projects that support clean energy, green infrastructure, public transportation, and community-wide environmental improvements.

Tell Microsoft: Support Clean Energy in Wisconsin

Join over 1,000 Wisconsinites in urging Microsoft to power its new AI data center in Wisconsin with local clean energy sources.

Citizen Action of Wisconsin has signed an open letter demanding that Microsoft commit to sustainable practices by choosing solar and wind over costly fossil fuels, which risk locking our state into decades of carbon emissions. Together, we’re pushing back against We Energies’ plan for new gas plants and pipelines, which would hinder Wisconsin’s climate goals.

Make your voice heard by signing the petition today to help Wisconsin lead in clean energy progress!

Transportation Plans in Southeast Wisconsin

The Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission (SEWRPC) has released the Draft 2025-2028 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) for public review, and now is the time to make your voice heard!

This plan outlines key transportation projects for our region over the next four years, with projects designed to align with VISION 2050, the regional transportation plan. Public input is crucial in ensuring that the plan reflects the needs of Southeastern Wisconsin communities.

We encourage everyone to review the TIP and participate in upcoming listening sessions or submit comments online. Your feedback can help shape a more equitable, accessible transportation future for all. Comments are due November 22nd.

Listen to “2024 Election: What’s at Stake?” Battleground Wisconsin Podcast

We discuss the final stretch of the voting phase of the 2024 election. It all comes down to people like our listeners talking to other voters and helping them make meaning of this election. Sign up to volunteer from home on phones or join us on the doors.

We discuss yet another healthcare merger as minnows, Black River Memorial Hospital and the Krohn Clinic, merge in an effort to survive all the bigger fish in the pond.

Marge Rogenbuck from Lincoln County, Wisconsin joins us to discuss conservative Board Members efforts to privatize the public county nursing home. Marge is a lifelong Lincoln County resident and had both her parents stay at Pine Crest. She tells us why she joined “People For Pine Crest” and is fighting back to protect a vital and excellent public institution in her community.

We close with a very special guest, Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley. He is jointed by Milwaukee County Sustainability Director Grant Helle, and Citizen Action Climate Coordinator Kat Klawes, to discuss the incredible new federal investments making it possible for cities, counties, and school districts to address the climate change emergency. As you will see, climate change is on the ballot on November 5th!
