Work for Citizen Action of Wisconsin

Welcome Back Citizen Action Driftless Organizer, Kristie Tweed

I am thrilled to return to Citizen Action of WI as the Driftless Co-Op Organizer!

As many of you know, I left in April to serve as the Campaign Manager for Rep. Steve Doyle. The good news? We won! It was a tough, hard-fought campaign, and I learned so much along the way. Securing the 94th District along with other key legislative victories in Wisconsin has really shifted the political landscape here, setting us up for a potential majority in 2026.

I’m incredibly fortunate that the organizing position at Citizen Action was still available, and I’m excited to return and work with such a dedicated team and passionate members. With the new legislative environment, I believe we have a real opportunity to create meaningful change in Wisconsin. I hope you’re as eager as I am to dive in.

I officially started back on Monday, December 9th, and I’m already hitting the ground running. I’ll be reaching out to reconnect with familiar faces and introduce myself to those I haven’t met yet. I’m looking forward to our conversations. If you’d like to connect, we can meet for coffee or set up a Zoom or phone call. I’d love to hear about what matters most to you and the changes you’d like to see in 2025.

Feel free to reach out via phone or email—I look forward to hearing from you!.

Thank you and Happy Holidays!

Citizen Action Fights Against New Gas in Wisconsin

The Public Service Commission (PSC) is accepting public comments until December 16, 2024, on a new proposed Gas Plant near Kenosha. The Paris RICE gas project is a proposed $303.3 million methane gas plant. This project, led by WEPCO (We Energies’ parent company), would lock Wisconsin into decades of fossil fuel reliance, worsening air quality, increasing health risks, and driving up utility bills for families already struggling with high energy costs. Kenosha County is already failing to meet federal air quality standards, and this project would only make it worse by releasing harmful pollutants.

Wisconsin deserves clean, affordable energy solutions—not more outdated, polluting, and expansive gas plants. Add your voice to the growing movement calling on the PSC to strengthen its environmental analysis and reject this harmful project. Together, we can demand a healthier, more sustainable future.

Review this testimony directions and example document.

In Wisconsin, we focus on the upcoming state budget battle and how Gov. We talk about the new opportunities that exist with 37 new state legislators and closer partisan margins in both the Senate and Assembly.

We are joined by Citizen Action member Jill Sexter from Wausau who organized a candlelight vigil outside of Wausau City Council to bring awareness to the fact that an unhoused man, Garrick Dixon, who tragically died in one of Wausau’s parks due to exposure last month.
