Citizen Action Driftless Organizing Cooperative Update
Driftless members are out canvassing for Susan Crawford, Jill Underly and other local La Crosse area candidates. It’s been beautiful weather and we feel the excitement about progressive candidates. Thanks to Kathy Allen and Suzanne Morgan for taking the time to have these important conversations at the doors. A special shout out to Suzanne who is a fairly new member of the Driftless Co-Op and has dived right into the work. She attended lobby day with us on March 4th and has been out almost daily this last week canvassing. If you would like to join us in helping get progressive candidates elected in La Crosse – please reach out to Kristie Tweed, Driftless Co-Op Organizer.
Upcoming Events:
- Statewide Phone bank for Susan Crawford – Tuesday, March 18th – Sign Up Here
- Hands Off Medicaid Town Hall – more information coming soon but early sign up available here
- Hands Off Medicaid Follow Up Actions and Events – TBD
- Driftless Healthcare Team Meeting – TBD (Early April)
Finally, The Driftless Co-Op has gotten so busy and seen so much interest that we will be developing a Driftless Leadership Team. Member Sally Safranski has agreed to be the coordinator and we will begin developing the team after the spring election. We will be meeting monthly and our goals include organizing training, outreach to potential new members and setting issue campaign goals for the Co-Op. We will also use that time to get updates from our Statewide Team Members. We are looking for members who are already leading efforts in the Co-Op or want to become Co-Op leaders.
If you are interested, please reach out to me. In solidarity, Kristie Tweed; Driftless Co-Op Organizer, 608-317-1331 or [email protected]

Citizen Action in the News
Citizen Action Robert Kraig was on the Earl Ingram Show for the full hour to discuss the Trump/DOGE take down of the Department of Education, and other attacks on the American constitutional order.
Robert is on Earl’s show every Wednesday from 9 AM to 10 AM on the statewide Civic Media Network. Station list here.
Citizen Action’s Robert Kraig and Assembly lead Sponsor Supreme Moore Omokunde sat down for a meaty interview on the Climate Accountability Act with WUWM Radio, Milwaukee’s NPR station.
Listen to “Congressional cowards hiding from constituents over Medicaid cuts” Battleground Wisconsin Podcast
Wisconsin Republican members of Congress are running scared from Medicaid cuts and the cowards are starting to do virtual town halls from bunkers, ducking open face-to-face dialogue with their own constituents. So much for the House of Representatives as the government closest to the people. Meanwhile House Republicans left Washington with no budget deal for a St. Patrick’s Day vacation (we didn’t know that was a thing), likely forcing a partial government shutdown Friday. Senate Democrats do the right thing and do not allow House Republicans to extort them into signing off on a bad deal which will give Trump and Musk a free hand to continue their unconstitutional assault on the civil service.
As we are hurtling towards the critical April1st Supreme Court and Superintendent of Public Instruction elections, Crawford and Schimel debate. Was anyone listening?
We welcome Citizen Action Organizer Kristie Tweed to clue us in on upcoming Medicaid Town Halls in La Crosse, Wausau, and Eau Claire later this month. Also, Citizen Action Climate Coordinator Kat Klawes joins us to discuss the path-breaking Climate Accountability Act and how you can get involved with our organizing.
We also review the terrifying Mahmoud Khalil case, which reminds us of Red Scares and other dark moments in American history when civil rights were shredded.
Sign up to volunteer in the Supreme Court and DPI election with Citizen Action.
Listen to the new show!
