La Crosse Schools Take Action on Climate

The La Crosse School District just released its first Climate Action Plan. This comes after years of community organizing and pressure to prioritize climate justice in public education. It took sustained advocacy just to form the committee, then 16 months of planning to get to this point.

Citizen Action Driftless member Kathy Allen served on the committee and helped lead the work. The plan includes goals to cut emissions, improve school buildings, and bring climate education into classrooms.
