Northwestern Wisconsin Co-op Roundup

It has been a busy first quarter of the calendar year in our co-op! We are extremely proud of the amazing accomplishments of our members:

Laura Benjamin was one of four Citizen Action Members elected to the Eau Claire City Council in the recent spring election. She is also the first transgender legislator to be elected in the State of Wisconsin! (Pictured, organizer Noah Reif and City Councilwomen Laura Benjamin)

State Senator Jeff Smith and State Representative Jodi Emerson have been tirelessly fighting for progressive change in Madison and at home! We are very proud to have two northwest co-op members in the state legislature.

Co-op member Ann Francis was elected the Northern Vice-Chair of the Third Congressional Democrats.

Co-op members including county board president Nick Smiar, county board supervisor Jim Dunning, and many others helped to pass a resolution committing Eau Claire County to 100% renewable energy by 2050!

Over 20 northwestern co-op members gave testimony on BadgerCare expansion, properly funding public education, fighting for climate justice, and a host of other issues at the Joint Finance Committee hearing on April 15th!

Watch a new video featuring Sen. Smith and Rep. Emerson discuss the Republican actions in Joint Finance Committee.

There is still much work to be done. Thanks to the leadership of citizen action co-op members like these, we are in a position to take the fight forward.
