Northwestern Wisconsin Co-op Roundup
It has been a busy first quarter of the calendar year in our co-op! We are extremely proud of the amazing accomplishments of our members:
Laura Benjamin was one of four Citizen Action Members elected to the Eau Claire City Council in the recent spring election. She is also the first transgender legislator to be elected in the State of Wisconsin! (Pictured, organizer Noah Reif and City Councilwomen Laura Benjamin)
State Senator Jeff Smith and State Representative Jodi Emerson have been tirelessly fighting for progressive change in Madison and at home! We are very proud to have two northwest co-op members in the state legislature.
Co-op member Ann Francis was elected the Northern Vice-Chair of the Third Congressional Democrats.

Co-op members including county board president Nick Smiar, county board supervisor Jim Dunning, and many others helped to pass a resolution committing Eau Claire County to 100% renewable energy by 2050!
Over 20 northwestern co-op members gave testimony on BadgerCare expansion, properly funding public education, fighting for climate justice, and a host of other issues at the Joint Finance Committee hearing on April 15th!
Watch a new video featuring Sen. Smith and Rep. Emerson discuss the Republican actions in Joint Finance Committee.
There is still much work to be done. Thanks to the leadership of citizen action co-op members like these, we are in a position to take the fight forward.
BadgerCare Expansion Town Hall – Fox Point
State Representative Greta Neubauer and other legislators will hold a town hall on the subject of BadgerCare expansion on Monday, May 20th. Fight to Expand BadgerCare continues in North Central Wisconsin
With the Republican-led state Senate and Assembly ignoring the will of the people, members of North Central Organizing Co-op are committed to ensuring that they continue to hear us loud and clear. Members will be continuing to attend in-district lobby days, town halls and listening sessions in Sen. Tiffany, Sen. Testin and Sen. Petrowaki’s district.
Contact your organizer, Joel Lewis, at 715-551-2525 if you would like to be involved.
Northeast Co-op Members help pass BadgerCare Expansion resolution on Outagamie County Board
On Tuesday, co-op member and Outagamie county supervisor, Jerry Iverson, introduced a resolution calling on the state to accept the Medicaid Expansion money as part of the state budget. Health Care committee leader David Haas spoke in favor of the resolution along with other residents of Outagamie County. The resolution passed 26-2 and other counties will have the opportunity to pass similar resolutions. Contact your co-op organizer to find out how to pass a BadgerCare Expansion resolution in your county!

Citizen Action in the News
This week we review a large number of right-wing counter assaults on reason and freedom from the Wisconsin Legislature and at the national level. We explore deserted Foxconn buildings, the shocking GOP debrief of their 2018 Wisconsin election debacle. Finally, we discuss the latest entry into the crowded Democratic presidential primary and announce a new feature in which Battleground Wisconsin listeners will have the opportunity to help determine the best progressive candidate.
