Brew Fest: Mandela Barnes, Gwen Moore and Lisa Neubauer speak;
Members who ran for office highlighted.
This Monday evening the 10th Annual Citizen Action Brew Fest was held at the historic Coakley Bros. Building on Milwaukee’s southside. Brew Fest featured inspiring speeches from Lt. Governor-Elect Mandela Barnes, Congresswoman Gwen Moore and State Supreme Court candidate Lisa Neubauer.
The event was well attended by Citizen Action Organizing Cooperative members who ran for State Legislature, including Emily Siegrist, Liz Sumner, Erica Flynn, Chris Rahlf, Gabriel Gomez, and Jim Brownlow. We are very proud of the outstanding campaigns many of our members ran this year. Chris Rahlf, Emily Siegrist and Julie Henszey recieved more votes than Tony Evers in their legislative districts.
Attendees also included: new State Representative Robyn Vining, State Senator Chris Larson, State Representative Fred Kessler, State Representative Peter Barca, Milwaukee Alderman Jose Perez, and Milwaukee School Board member Larry Miller. New Wisconsin State AFL-CIO president Stephanie Bloomingdale was in attendance along with Citizen Action of Wisconsin Board President, Mark Thomsen.
The event also had a call to action from the chair of the Milwaukee Cooperative Steering Committee, Beth Ludeman, to join us next Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday to make calls to voters against an effort to strip Tony Evers of power in a GOP lame duck session (details below). The fundraiser also included a silent auction that featured Co-op member Marlene Ott winning amazing seats to a Bucks game at the new arena.
