Citizen Action’s North Side Rising Organizing Cooperative announces Milwaukee City Council special election endorsements

Citizen Action is excited to announce endorsements in two special elections for Milwaukee City Council in the November 8th election. Both candidates completed a 2022 Citizen Action candidate questionnaire and been interviewed by Citizen Action North Side Rising staff and member leaders and were approved by a vote of the Citizen Action Board.

Mark Chambers Jr. – Milwaukee Common Council, District 2

Mark Chambers Jr. provided strong answers on climate equity, public education, and shifting funding throughout Milwaukee.

He thoroughly impressed the committee on his willingness to listen to and work with North Side Rising, Citizen Action of Wisconsin, the African American Roundtable, and the Milwaukee Teachers Education Association. Mark committed to work closely with North Side Rising members to address climate change and job creation in Milwaukee.

Mark has a general election opponent. The committee felt that Mark gave thorough answers, provided real plans, and was more involved in the district and community.

Jonathan Brostoff – Milwaukee Common Council, District 3

Jonathan Brostoff is a longtime state legislator who has worked closely with Citizen Action in that role. Our interview committee was impressed with his answers around climate equity and public transit, as well as his willingness to be a real advocate for our values.

Jonathan will immediately be a movement progressive leader on the City Council and will work very closely with North Side Rising members to help implement our climate and jobs agenda at the city as we attempt to meet the Paris Climate goals.

Jonathan is running unopposed for this seat.
