Citizen Action of Wisconsin and Green Homeowners United are working to ensure equitable access to energy savings and climate action through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

On April 16th, Focus on Energy controlled by the Public Service Commission will vote on a proposal that could help low and moderate-income homeowners in Wisconsin get home upgrades 100% covered by funding through the IRA.

Focus on Energy will be overseeing IRA rebates, which includes $74 million dollars in funding to help homeowners reduce their energy bills, make upgrades to homes, and will help create jobs. These rebates will cover things like attic insulation, energy-efficient furnaces, smart thermostats, and much more.

Our Ask: We calling on Focus on Energy to allow the Inflation Reduction Act’s rebates to apply retroactively from January 2024 for energy-efficient improvements, and to increase support for low-income families by covering project costs up to $10,000, ensuring equitable access to energy savings.

Your Voice Matters:

By endorsing this campaign, you’re championing an equitable approach to energy efficiency, ensuring that the benefits of the Inflation Reduction Act reach those who need them most. Let’s stand together for a greener, cleaner, and equitable Wisconsin.

To show your support, sign this petition with Citizen Action of Wisconsin and Green Homeowners United, by April 15th, 2024.

Listen to “Spring Election, Sarah Godlewski, free home weatherization, and flowers” Battleground Wisconsin Podcast

We debrief this week’s Spring General Election. We look at the implications of the high ‘Uninstructed Vote” in the Democratic Presidential primary. Will it put additional pressure on President Biden to change course on the unfolding humanitarian travesty in Gaza? We also dig into the central role that strong voter support for public education played in local elections throughout the state, local election success stories and disappointments. With the Spring Elections now behind us, we turn to the critical task of recruiting progressive candidates for state legislative elections.

We remind our listeners that our 40th Anniversary event in Wausau is next Thursday, April 11th, 5:30pm and encourage listeners to join Robert and Matt in celebrating 40 years of powerful organizing.

We welcome Secretary of State Sarah Godlewski to discuss the continued attacks on her office and the structures that support our democracy. Secretary of State Godlewski also talks about the importance of public education and why she barnstormed the state supporting many of the 90 public school referendums on the ballot this Spring.

Citizen Action Climate Coordinator Kat Klawes joins us to discuss an opportunity for our listeners to take action in support of a FREE weatherization program being considered by the Wisconsin Public Service Commission to implement important climate components of President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act passed by Democrats in Congress in 2022.

Sign petition in support of FREE weatherization of Wisconsin homes.

Listen to the show.
