New CNN poll says U.S. Senate race is a toss up.
A new CNN Poll shows Mandela Barnes is closing the gap with Ron Johnson, only trailing by 1% in the critical Wisconsin U.S. Senate race! This race is basically tied!
Citizen Action’s “deep canvass” is talking to them throughout the state and moving undecided voters to Mandela Barnes! The pro-Trump dark money ads have been relentlessly attacking Mandela for months with smears and radicalized fearmongering. Our field team has been having deep conversations with undecided and independent voters throughout Wisconsin since the primary ended.
Now more than ever, we need your immediate support to expand our GOTV field program that is talking directly to voters for the final GOTV week push. These deeper conversations are more effective than over-priced TV ads. If we can talk to more independent and undecided voters in the state, Mandela will win!
Watch new video we are running digitally in Eau Claire area.

Milwaukee Climate & Equity Plan Receiving Public Input
Thursday evening, the City of Milwaukee held a town hall meeting to discuss the draft Milwaukee climate and economic equity plan at the Central Library, and 2 additional satellite locations on the north and south sides, where the task force members took questions from the public.
Citizen Action has been a driving force in creating and developing an official Climate and Economic Equity Plan for Milwaukee. The Milwaukee City-County Task Force on Climate & Economic Equity is after a long 3 year process, nearing completion of a full plan to present to City and County governments. Citizen Action Climate & Equity Director Rafel Smith is part of the task force, as are two members of Citizen’s Action Southeast Wisconsin Organizing Co-op, A draft report was released for public comment this week, Janet Meissner Pritchard and Ted Kraig.
Citizen Action is still working to improve and strengthen the plan.
Citizen Action members can read the draft plan and by taking a survey

Sign our petition against We Energies outrageous 13% rate hike
Citizen Action of Wisconsin’s North Side Rising Organizing Co-op was part of a coalition against We Energies proposed rate hike, now 13%+ for residential costumers. The new coalition, Affordable Energy Now, is demanding that the biggest utility in Wisconsin stop charging unaffordable rates to low income People of Color who live in older energy inefficient housing. African Americans in Milwaukee are often forced to pay 6-20% of their incomes to keep the lights on.

Join Northeast Organizing Cooperative at Early Vote & Tailgate, Sunday, November 6th, 11:30am – 4pm
Green Bay has recently expanded its voting hours the Sunday before Election Day, and we want to celebrate! Citizen Action is joining Wisconsin Conservation Voters and other local organizations to co-host a Packers watch party and tailgate on Sunday, November 6th from 11:30am – 4:00pm. Join us at 425 S Adams St Ste 202 in Green Bay for football, food and drinks, yard games, and a walk to the polls after the game! Voting resources will be available, but seating will be limited, so bring your own lawn chair!
Sign up here to let us know you’ll be attending.
There will be a rally to support the Indian Child Welfare Act (ICWA) at the Norbert Hill Center in Oneida, WI on November 9th at 5pm. The ICWA, enacted in 1978, helps to address the displacement of Native children into non-Native households by giving tribal governments full authority over these custody cases. The Supreme Court will begin hearing arguments against this act on November 9th, so this protective act is in jeopardy. Join local organizations Building Unity, JOSHUA, and the Green Bay Democratic Socialists of America to stand in opposition to the attacks and help uphold the ICWA!
Click here to view the Facebook event, and contact organizer Justice Peche at [email protected] if you have any questions.
Tim Michels’ Flat Tax is a terrible idea!
More than two dozen economists say a “flat tax” that Republican gubernatorial candidate Tim Michels has said he is open to would only favor Wisconsin’s richest residents.
Wealthy people making MORE than $500,000/year will get an average tax cut of $22,800/year under Tim Michels’ flat tax plan according to the non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau. People making $25,000 to $300,000/year would get a tax increase! Read more
Listen to Micheal Rosen discuss the flat tax on the new Battleground WI Podcast.
Citizen Action in the News
We must be getting the attention of the enemies of democracy. Fox News just used the Citizen Action platform in a desperate attempt to damage Mandala Barnes. Needless to say their coverage distorts what our platform actually says, but that is what propagandists do. The best way to counter this onslaught of slime is to volunteer in Citizen Action’s election program, and have real conversations with voters.
Citizen Action’s Robert Kraig was on the Earl Ingram Radio Show to discuss why conservative dark money groups have been able to dominate the election agenda, and what progressives can do to win this critical election despite the dark misinformation dominating the airwaves. Listen here.
Citizen Action’s Robert Kraig was on the UpNorth News Radio program to discuss how we can win November 8th in Wisconsin. Watch here (at 1 hour 9 minute mark on the video for 30 minutes)
Citizen Action’s Robert Kraig was on the Jeff Santos Show to discuss whether Democrats can change the economic narrative of the election in the final 10 days. Watch here (at 33 minute mark of the video for 25 minutes)
“ME Energies” Battleground Wisconsin Podcast
We discuss the razor tight Wisconsin election that has come down to turnout! We encourage all our listeners to challenge themselves and do at least one phone or door shift by November 8th. See our list of GOTV opportunities this weekend. We talk about the dire need for Democrats to embrace climate change if they want to govern the nation in the future. We welcome Antonio Butts, the ED of Walnut Way, for a special interview on We Energies rate increase. We close the show with our in-house economist Dr. Michael Rosen to review newly released Wisconsin Legislative Reference Bureau data showing Tim Michels’ flat tax only benefits the richest 3% of Wisconsin residents.
