Citizen Action Weekly; Friday, May 20th
RSVP for Citizen Action Brewfest 2022! Wednesday, June 22nd, 6pm, Milwaukee Office.
Join us as we take an evening to celebrate! We’ll be giving our first ever Democracy Defenders Awards to two Milwaukeeans who have courageously stood against the right-wing conspiracy to end multiracial democracy in America.
There will be refreshments and hors d’oeuvres! We’ll have a variety of craft and union-made beers, and of course wine and soft-drinks too! Take the time to go out this summer for catching up with old friends, meeting new activists and leaders, and the inspiration to carry on the fight for justice.
Citizen Action is hiring!

Attend Wausau Climate Action Plan meeting, Wednesday, June 1st, 6pm
On Wednesday, June 1st, at 6 pm, join members and friends of the Citizen Action North Central Organizing Co-op in the Community Room of the Marathon County Public Library, to discuss ways to get a climate action plan created and implemented in Wausau. If we can get this done here, perhaps it can be done in other municipalities as well.
A climate action plan commits to being 100% carbon neutral by 2050 (or sooner), and lays out the details on how that will be accomplished. Resolutions and climate action plans like this have already been passed in Eau Claire and Menominee, and now we believe we can do so in Wausau! Come learn more about climate action plans and how you can help us reach our goal!
Attend Citizen Action’s 3rd CD Candidate Forum, Wednesday, June 8th, 7pm. RSVP HERE
Citizen Action in the news
Citizen Action held a press conference this week with White House Infrastructure Coordinator Mitch Landreau to highlight the huge opportunities for Wisconsin in the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law. Other speakers included Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich and WI AFL-CIO President Stephanie Bloomingdale. The event spurred wall-to-wall media coverage in the Green Bay/Fox Valley media market focused on Mayor Genrich’s comments about the possibility the infrastructure law could finally make passenger rail to Green Bay possible. See some of the coverage on Fox 11 and WTAQ Radio.
Listen or watch the media event with Eric Genrich and Mitch Landrieu, White House Infrastructure Coordinator.
Citizen Action’s Robert Kraig was on the Jeff Santos show to discuss how to prevent future white nationalist massacres. Listen here.
“Amtrak to Green Bay” Battleground Wisconsin Podcast
What is the potential impact of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law after 6 months? Can it, as Green Bay Mayor Eric Genrich proposed on a media call hosted by Citizen Action this week, fund an expansion of Amtrak to the City of Champions? What do this week’s Pennsylvania primaries portend for WI? Are the insurrectionists and the progressive populists on the rise? We talk about the latest COVID spike and new data showing Pro Trump counties continue to suffer double the COVID death rates of pro-Biden counties, while President Biden continues to be quiet on the continued failure to obtain the COVID vaccine patent waiver needed to vaccinate the global south. New NPR polling finds 2/3rds of Americans oppose overturning Roe v. Wade, but does it mean anything politically? Why are Milwaukee leaders shifting blame for the shootings after the Bucks game last week by demonizing youth for the decision of adults to allow an unprecedented proliferation of guns. Also this week, who is behind the baby formula shortage? (Hint, it’s not Joe Biden).
